Honda Gold Wing GL1800 Launched In India For Rs 28.5 Lakh; Couch-Comfort On Wheels

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) in its 40th anniversary celebration launched two versions of its highly popular touring motorbike – the Gold Wing GL1800 – in India for a starting price of Rs 28.5 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi). Gold Wing Airbag in Pearl Grey White could be availed for Rs 31.5 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi).

Gold Wing, one of the most comfortable bikes for long rides, equips an efficient six-cylinder 1832cc liquid-cooled engine that maxes 120Ps peak power at 550 rpm, and a max torque of 167 Nm at 4000 rpm. Here’s a quick peek into the salient features of the Gold Wing : Lightweight twin-spar aluminum frame and a one-sided Pro-Arm swingarm for stability and responsive handling, five-position heated grips, independently adjustable heated seats and foot-warming system, six-speaker 80W SRS surround sound system compatible with iPhone/iPod/USB, Combined Braking System (CBS) and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) for safety, a fully integrated airbag (only available in Gold Wing – Airbag). The 363 kg (dry) weighing bike has a slow-speed electric reverse system for easy manoeuvring in parking spaces and other tight spots, and can carry a luggage of 150-liters. Cruise control is standard.

Mr Keita Muramatsu, President & CEO, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, stated his excitement while offering Honda’s finest to India. Mr Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Vice President – Sales & Marketing, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India added to it stating that the Gold Wing India release was a conscious decision following the response it received at the Auto Expo 2014, and that they have made their first Gold Wing Airbag delivery at the exclusive Wing World in Delhi.

In another huge win for Honda, the company is all set to celebrate the production of its 300-millionth motorcycle.
