Sandalwood’s newest entrant Vinay Rajkumar doesn’t seem a wee bit nervous.Well, why should he be? For he has a lineage with qualities to emulate.
He believes that the simplicity of his grandfather, the late legendary actor Dr Rajkumar and the dedication and commitment of his uncles, Puneeth and Shivarajkumar, are something that no newcomer will get to look at from such close quarters.
Vinay’s launch film ‘Siddhartha’ has been progressing at a steady pace and the young actor sounds excited when he gets talking about it.
“The shooting is almost complete and I can’t tell you how much fun I’ve had working on this project. It’s a great beginning,” Vinay tells ‘Metrolife.’
But what took him so long to sign his first film? “I was waiting for the right kind of script to come along. We were impressed with this one. So I didn’t think twice before signing,” Vinay adds.
Vinay recollects that he would accompany his uncles — Shivarajkumar and Puneeth — on various occasions and learnt a lot about acting from them just through observation.
Ask him which one of his uncles he idolises and he admits that it is indeed a hard question. But he says that Puneeth has an inimitable style and Shivarajkumar has a charm of his own. “It’s hard to pick out one. They’ve both been pillars of support,” he shares.
‘Siddhartha’ is knit around college life and Vinay plays a college-goer. He says that he didn’t have to put in any extra effort because the memories of college are still fresh in his mind.
“I just passed out of college and that is precisely why I agreed to do this role. I believe I can do full justice to the character,” explains Vinay.
He further states that in addition to romance, which is an indispensable part of college life, the movie also delves into other issues. “It’s not a regular love story,” he says.
Working on his first project, says Vinay, has indeed been a wonderful experience. He states that he can’t wait for the film to hit the screens and get talking to people more about his role.
The film is extremely special to him, he says. “I am not allowed to delve into the details of the project yet,” he wraps up.
