One-year-old girl arrived in hospital clinically dead after brain stoppage.
A one-year-old Emirati girl died a day after she fell into a bucket filled with water while playing near the container at her home in Ras Al Khaimah.
Doctors At Saqr Al Qassimi Hospital said the girl arrived clinically dead but they managed to revive her heart which had stopped due to drowning.
Quoted by the Arabic language daily Emirat Alyoum, they said the baby remained in the intensive care unit for nearly a day before she died of brain failure on Tuesday.
“She had swallowed a large quantity of water…we managed to resuscitate her heart but she died after her brain functions stopped,” one doctor said.
The paper quoted doctors as saying the Hospital had received three child drowning cases over the past weeks, including incidents at home and hotel swimming pools.
They blamed families for not properly watching their children and letting them play near water container or swimming at pools on their own
