IndiaTvc3f3aa_carBhubaneswar: Burglars on Saturday broke open the windowpane of a car outside a jewellery shop and decamped with Rs 10 lakhs worth diamonds and other documents.

Police said, Shyam Sunder Patnaik, resident of Khurda, worked as an employee with Nakshatra diamonds, and had parked his car outside Epari Sadashiv jewellery showroom in Kharavela Nagar on Janpath.

Patnaik alleged that the burglars also took away his chequebook and other documents alongwith the diamonds from his car (OR02 BJ2235). The burglary took place hardly 20 metres away from Kharavela Nagar police station.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Satyabrata Bhoi said, employees of the showroom have been questioned, as there was not a single eyewitness to the incident, and the matter appears to be somewhat fishy.

Special Squad inspector Anoop Kanungo is investigating.
