Jeddah: There are many incidents that would end with tragedy for those who come to gulf nation for employment purpose to look after their families. We find such kind of incidents through daily newspapers or television. There are several non-resident innocents who spend their lives in prison for others fault & some of them end up with tragedy. In some cases victims’ families also suffer beside them, mostly their families don’t get any compensation from the government or other sources, such an incident reported from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in 2009.
Abdul Hameed from Mangalore, Bantwal resident came to Saudi to earn bread & butter to look after his family, by completing six months in Saudi Arabia, Hameed got an accident as a Saudi citizen hit him & absconded from the place. However, some local people could able to follow him & handed him over to police. Unfortunately Hameed passed away on 12.08.2009. He left his wife Saleeka, children & other relatives. Hameed borrowed a loan of RS 80,000 by mortgaging his house to reach to Saudi Arabia. His family received notice from the Bank several times as he couldn’t repay the loan on time because of his premature death.
On hearing Abdul Hameed’s premature death, Members of India fraternity forum got rushed by the leadership of Mr. Muhammed Ali (I.F.F Jeddah) & filed case against Saudi citizen (Culprit) with the help of consulate general of India, Jeddah. Beside the cooperation of Mr. Hussain Jokatte (I.F.F. Jeddah). Considering this, Saudi police registered accident & murder case on Saudi citizen & sent him to jail, but Saudi citizen succeeded to get release from the jail by his political power for temporally.
However, I.F.F Jeddah brought this case to notice of higher authority without losing confidence & elaborated Abdul Hameed’s family’s situation. Requested them to consider as serious matter, higher authority assisted on humanitarian grounds, later this case handed over to governor as Saudi citizen’s political influence & internal stress increased, beside this, IFF Jeddah filed another case against him as they found him bearing a fake Insurance. IFF also provided fundamental facilities to deceased family. Finally Saudi court judged to pay 150,000 Saudi riyals as compensation to deceased family after 5 years of hard work by I.F.F. Jeddah.
Ms. Saleeka thanked Mr. Zaamil Hamid(Leading lawyer, Jeddah) and social organization of India fraternity forum (I.F.F) who assisted by fighting legally to provide justice to her husband and to provide compensation to manage her family , Non- resident citizen also appreciated the effort of I.F.F as they worked on humanitarian grounds to help the poor and destitute family .
Mr. Ashraf Bajpe (I.F.F Jeddah) Mr. Mudassar Akkarangadi (I.F.F. Jeddah), Mr. Mustafa Punacha (I.F.F Jeddah) Mr. Ashraf Manjeshwara (I.F.F.Jeddah), Mr.Soofi Sulya (I.F.F.Jeddah), and some other members of I.F.F were involved in finalizing the above case.
