Thiruvananthapuram: Two Kerala men have been deported by the United Arab Emirates for posting pro-Islamic State comments on Facebook.

The two men, who hail from Kochi, are reportedly part of a group of 10 Indians being monitored closely in the UAE for sharing Islamic State’s propaganda and for being sympathetic towards the terror group on social media.

Sources say that the post shared by them indicated that the men have been ‘radicalised’.

The UAE has sent the two men back to India, but has not registered cases against them. The identity of the two men has also not been disclosed due to security reasons.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his visit to the UAE in August had agreed that the two countries will coordinate efforts to counter radicalisation. India had also agreed to share information with UAE on youth who are looking to join ISIS.

Last month, the Centre held a meeting of top bureaucrats and police chiefs from several states to discuss the threat of youth in India being influenced by the Islamic State, which is a jihadist extremist terrorist group and now controls large parts of Syria and Iraq.
