Health officials warn of mass resignation if their demands are left unattended.

Mangalore, October 20:  Dr T. A. Veerabhadrayya, the president of the Karnataka State government health officials association has warned that about 4,500 health officials who are working for the state government’s health department would submit a mass resignation on October 27th.

Speaking in a press meet at the district Health and family welfare office in the city he said, since the past six years; we have submitted memorandum to the state government to fulfil their main demands which is not yet addressed. Hence they have arrived at this decision.

Again this year from the month of February, memorandum was sent to fulfil the demands. A notice was given stating that the mass resignation would be given on October 1st, but even though it was postponed till October 27th, the government has not come forward to discuss on it. Hence it is a unanimous decision of all the members of the association. On October 27th we are submitting a mass resignation to the commissioner at Anand Rao circle at Bangalore and giving them a month’s time. Either the State government have to accept our resignation or fulfil our demands, said Dr Veerabhadrayya.

He said, this resignation was given demanding to meet the fourteen main demands such as retaining the district hospitals in health and family welfare department, directly releasing the salary to the hospitals under the limits of Zilla Panchayat, appointing the chief medical officers (CMO) to the district and taluk hospitals, all vacant posts have to be filled similar to the Tamilnadu model etc.

The leaders of the association Dr Chandra Mohan, Dr Nikin Shetty, Dr Shashidhar, D K district union president Dr Rajesh were present during the press meet.
