Mangalore, October 24: Finally the infant who was a victim to endosulfan has rested in eternal peace on Thursday.

The baby has been identified as Lohith, son of Sundara Naik and Thara of Pelthaje, near Perla.

The child was born with a bulged head and without the left ear and eyelids in a hospital in Mangalore on September 13th. The child was attacked by hydrocephalus and required a huge sum for the treatment. Since the family was poor they could not afford to the treatment and had looked after the child at their home.

But as days passed by, the infants head started bulging abruptly and hence the child has breathed his last. The health department has proved that, around the 11 gram panchayat limits in Kadsargod endosulfan is not present. This incident proves that, endosulfan is still persisting. The locals have opined that, for decades the endosulfan which was sprayed to the cashew nut trees of agricultural board is still present in the land and water at this area.
