Mangalore, October 30: Mithun (16), was knocked down by a Honda Activa when he was trying to cross the highway near Bykampady here on Wednesday October 29th.No sooner he fell down, tyres of a tipper truck went over his leg, crushing it on Wednesday October 29th.
The victim Mithun is a resident of Padubidri and works for a canteen in Bykampady.
Even the locals failed to help him. The auto rickshaw drivers on the spot called government’s 108 ambulance service. Even after an hour, the ambulance vehicle failed to arrive on the venue. Although the youth was bleeding and pleading for help, no merciful heart stretched help to him.
Nearly an hour had elapsed when a person moving towards the city took the youth to a hospital in his car.
The locals expressed their fury over the ambulance which failed to appear on the venue even after an hour. Harish a local called MLA, Mohiuddin Bava, and complained to him about the apathy of the ambulance service. The MLA immediately instructed the traffic police to look into the matter. He also asked them to arrange for an ambulance to get parked in Bykampady since it is an industrial area and an accident prone zone as well.
