Bike rally, ‘Riders for Helmets’ organized in the city to create awareness on road safety among citizens.

Mangaluru, January 26: A bike rally – ‘Riders for Helmets’ was organized in the city on Sunday, January 25th to promote safe riding, by wearing helmets while riding two ­wheeler’s which had witnessed the participation of over hundreds of two wheeler’s.

The rally was organized as part of 26th National Road Safety Week ­ 2015, under the joint organization of Dakshina Kannada district administration, Transport Department and Mangaluru Traffic Police in and Center for Health and Development (CHD), Mangaluru and Rev Limiterz.

The rally was taken from Nehru Maidan to Ladyhill Circle via Bunts Hostel and Lalbagh.

DCP (Crime & Traffic) N Vishnuvardhan, flagged off the bike rally in the presence of Assistant Regional Transport Officer G S Hegde, ACP Uday Nayak and officials of Mangaluru City Traffic Police department.

Various biking groups along with members of CHD, Rev Limiterz, Naked Wolves had participated in the rally.

Guest of honour RJ Errol administered a road safety pledge to the participants prior to the flag-off of the rally.

The bikers gathered together post the rally and pledged to follow and encourage safety and traffic rules among others, to avoid accidents.

An interaction was also organized between Mr Hegde, PSI Gopalkrishna Bhat and Guru Kamath from traffic police department and RTO officials along with the participants of the rally.
