Mangaluru, April 1: “I have a desire to play in the International Cricket Match in Mangaluru which is my native”, said Indian cricket team player K L Rahul; expressing to the office bearers of Karnataka State Cricket Association, the need of International Stadium in Mangaluru along with all other sports facilities.
Rahul spoke after he was felicitated by Mangaluru division Karnataka State Cricket Association, in a programme organized in Hotel Ocean Pearl in the city.
Dreams of my young age have now turned into reality. Hard work is only the path to success. These are my happiest days. Support from parents, teachers and guidance of physical directors have taken my cricket life to this height, said Rahul.
I was a bit disappointed in the match against Australia. But rigorous practice, helped to achieve century in the next match. During this moment, achievers of various tournaments held during 2014 were felicitated, he said.
KPL to begin again:
Karnataka State Cricket Association secretary Brijesh Patil spoke on this occasion and said, including Ranaji, Irani trophy, the Karnataka Team has recorded a good performance. New players are being selected to play for the country. With a view to encourage, it has been decided to begin KPL again this year, he said.
Stadium in Mangaluru:
In the past, land was marked for Cricket stadium, but it was not possible then. This time the stadium will be constructed here. We are looking for a new land. We will inspect the spot with the Deputy Commissioner of DK on Wednesday. Sports minister as well as the DC are showing interest regarding the same, he said.
Karnataka State Cricket Association treasurer Dr P Dayananda Pai said, DK is exhibiting good performance in all the sports sector including cricket. Rahul playing for the Indian cricket team is an inspiration to the young sportsmen, he said.
Cricket stadium in Mangaluru will be built by Karnataka State Cricket Association. Within couple of years, the arrangements for the construction will be held, he said.
Rahul’s teachers Shain Masood, friends Cinnan Abdul Khader, Rakshith Suvarna, Raghuveer expressed their opinion about Rahul’s activities.
Organizer A V Sashidhar, Convener Manohar Amin, Divisional Chief N C Girish were present. Karnataka State Cricket Association Mangaluru Divisional president H RAtan Kumar welcomed the event.
