Puttur, April 17: An auto driver, who tried to take a woman to a place other than the place she wanted to go, has been manhandled by the locals. The incident took place at Alankar near Kadaba on Thursday, April 16th.
The accused auto driver is Mahesh Poojary from Kayyappe, Alankar.
It learnt as per reports, since a year, Mahesh has been running an auto rickshaw. On Thursday morning, a woman hired his auto rickshaw to go to her house in Nadthila. But Mahesh with this woman customer on board drove his autorickshaw in a wrong direction of Nagthi which is situated completely opposite to Nadthila.
The woman politely told Mahesh that he was driving on the wrong road. But instead of stopping, he proceeded. The woman being way less jumped out from the moving auto rickshaw. In the process, she broke her hand and leg. The brave woman later hired another auto rickshaw and took first aid treatment for her injuries at a private hospital in the village and later went to Kadaba hospital.
After learning about the incident, relatives of the woman and locals started looking for Mahesh. Mahesh was just about to flee from the village when he was spotted. Around 150 people charged well for his strange mannerism.
Now it is learnt that the same man Mahesh had tried to take a woman from Kaniyoor to an isolated place around six months back. But the woman had successfully escaped from Mahesh. The next day the woman and her relatives had beaten up Mahesh. Mahesh had promised and apologized then of not committing the same mistake again. But he failed to keep up his word.
A case has been registered by Kadaba cops.
