Pretext of purchasing land: City based doctor cheated of huge sum, five arrested .

Mangaluru, April 18: It is learnt that cops have detained five members who had cheated city based doctor of Rs 2.50 crore in the pretext of helping the doctor to buy land.

The arrested are namely Vijesh Roshan Cutinho(38) from Kulshekar, Alphonso M D’Souza(53) from Shakthinagar, Paul Monterio (66) from Pajeer, Jeevan Das Shetty (41), Praveen Shetty (32) from Kavoor. Remaining accused in the case are namely Satish RK, Balacahndra Shetty, Sunil kumar, Gopinath, UdayKumar, and Harish Tholar.

A complaint has been filed regarding this issue in Urva Police Station.

Dr Amarnath Sorke, Chairman of Karnataka Ayurvedic Medical College who wished to purchase a plot in the city had sought the help of Rabiyath to look for the suitable land.

Rabiyath told the doctor that a man named Victor Oliver Fernandes was looking to sell his land which measures 6.36 acres situated at Pacchanady.

Later Dr Amarnath met a person who had introduced himself as Victor Oliver Fernandes. For the documents purpose, Victor had demanded 2,51,15,000 during their meet. Dr Amarnath who paid the amount went to see his land after few days. Meanwhile, a man who arrived to the land questioned Dr Amarnath what was he doing in the land.

Dr Amarnath replied that he had purchased the land by paying huge amount and that he was the owner of the land. On hearing it, the man who had queried the doctor said; he was Victor Oliver Fernandes- the real owner of the land and revealed the fact that he had not sold his land.

It has come to light that the culprits have created fake documents to sell the land.
