Beltangady, May 23: It is reported that on Friday May 22nd, an alleged attempt to murder Mahesh Shetty Thimarodi, leader of Praja Prabhutva Vedike, took place at Ujire here.
It is alleged that Srinath Prabhu, who was one of the classmate of Thimarodi attempted to knock him down with his car.
From the sources it is learnt that, while Thimarodi was travelling in his Scorpio car, Srinath who was travelling in another car asked him to stop and said he had to converse about some matter. When Thimarodi got out of his car, Srinath allegedly drove his car unevenly and attempted to mow him down.
Immediately after this incident, supporters of Thimarodi gathered at the spot and allegedly assaulted Srinath Prabhu alleging that Srinath had attempted to murder Thimarodi.
Sources said, Thimarodi escaped unhurt in the incident, but Srinath was admitted to hospital and two other persons were also injured.
The cops who arrived to the venue took the car belonging to Srinath Prabhu into custody.
Supporters of Mahesh Shetty Thimarodi gathered at the police station and protested, it is learnt.
Later a complaint was lodged in the police station.
