Awesome fruits exhibition witnessed at ‘Pilikula Vasantotsava-2015’.

Mangaluru, May 25: ‘Pilikula Vasantotsava-2015’ was held in front of the Pilikula Zoo organized by Dr Shivarama Karanth Pilikula Nisarga Dhama along with the joint aegis of Tourism, Horticulture, and Forest department, Kalkura foundation, and Swavalambi balaga on Sunday, May 24th.

The fruits exhibition organized in the event drew the attention of all. The event was organized in a perfect manner.

By cutting open the Rudrakshi variety jackfruit, the event was inaugurated by the Padmashree honoured Agricultural Scientist as well as the president of Indo-American Hybrid seeds Pvt Ltd Dr Manmohan Attavara.

Addressing the gathering later he said, in the country, there is a wide chance for agricultural activities along with growing fruits and vegetables. But marketing is a great problem. Growth is possible only when a good market is available for the products grown by agriculturists. Government should give importance to the farmers and increase the subsidies, he said.

DK Deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim speaking on this occasion said, the event is organized with the intention of educating the  young generation about the Flora and Fauna, and their protection. By witnessing the interest of the citizens of the district, we are also interested to organize unique sorts of various programs.

Additional Deputy Commissioner- Sadashiva Prabhu, MUDA Commissioner- Mohammed Nazir, Sub-committee president of Pilikula Park-  Dr Chandrashekar Chouta, Project director of Pilikula Nisarga Dhama- S Prabhakar Sharma, director of Pilikula Science centre – Professor K V Rao, Director of Pilikula Sanctury – Jayaprakash Bhandary, President of Kalkura Pratistana- Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, Subbaiah Shetty, Roy castelino-President of Konkani Academy, Deputy Director of Horticulture department- Yogish H R, Joint Director of Horticulture department –Kempegowda and others were present.

People enjoyed buying and relishing various varieties of fruits and eatables displayed in about seventy stalls. In the evening fruits were auctioned.

Variety dishes such as Mulaka, gatti, gaarige, traditional eatables prepared out of jackfruit, dosa, vada, chips, halwa, kabab, biryani, ice-creams, variety juices, sweets, tapioca grown on terrace, varieties of plants, craft items such as cane chair, muttale(cap), organic earth worm compost exhibition cum sale was witnessed in the venue.

Karnataka Fisheries Development Board organized sale of raw fish and also fresh fish varieties prepared at the venue.

Children trained by Swaroopa Study centre created awareness among the public who were found littering. Vasantha Gaana program was presented by Jayashree Aravind team on this occasion.

Quiz competition was also organized for children and the winners were given fruits in the form of prizes.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA JR Lobo, witnessed Vasantotsava and expressed their joy.
