MLA Halady Srinivas Shetty receives threat calls from Ravi Poojary .

Kundapur, May 26: Kundapur MLA Halady Srinivas Shetty has filed a complained at the Shankaranarayana police station stating that around afternoon, he had received threat and extortion call from Australia from a person who claimed to be underworld don Ravi Poojary.

The caller contacted the MLA on his mobile phone and not only demanded money, but also threatened to take his life. A complaint in this regard was filed by Halady Srinivas Shetty in Shankaranarayana police station.

As per the complaint, the MLA was travelling from Halady to Koteshwar on Monday May 25th; he received a call from abroad. When Halady Srinivas received the call, a person who claimed to be Ravi Poojary spoke in Tulu and demanded Halady Srinivas, to give him Rs 10 crores. Meanwhile the call got cut. Within some time he received a abroad call from another number. During the conversation the caller said, “You must give me Rs 10 crore, take my another phone number, think on paying me money and let me know”. For this, the MLA replied, “I have not done anything illegal and even during elections I did not take money from anyone. I do not have money.”

However, the caller refused to believe Halady and threatened to kill him if he did not pay him the money as demanded, states the complaint.

Halady in his complaint urged the police to trace and take action against the caller.

It is said that the call has come from Australia and is an internet call. Security is provided to Halady Srinivas as he received threatening call.

Police have registered a case and are undertaking brisk investigations.
