Woman delivers a baby boy in railway station toilet

Udupi, May 26: A woman who went to the washroom in the railway station at Indrali  gave birth to  a baby boy there on the morning of Tuesday May 26th.

Vijaya (36), who was expecting, had arrived alone to the town by a train.  While she visited the toilet in the railway station, she suddenly developed labour pain, and delivered a baby boy.

Vijaya, wife of Raju, from Kumta taluk in Uttara Kannada district, had arrived to the town to meet her uncle, who has been admitted into a private hospital here for treatment.

Vishal Shetty, a well-known social worker, rushed to the railway station along with an ambulance after he was informed about this matter.

Railway station officials extended a helping hand in taking care of the woman and her newborn son and shifting her to the vehicle.

Vijaya has been admitted into the government maternity and children’s hospital here, both the mother and new born baby boy are in good health, said the hospital sources.
