Gurupur based advocate John Michael D’Cunha appointed as new HC registrar general

Mangaluru, Jun 2: John Michael D’Cunha has been appointed as registrar general of Karnataka high court on Monday June 1st.

Justice B A Patil, who was functioning as registrar general so far, has been transferred as registrar general of vigilance.

John Michael D’Cunha, judge of the special court here, had found the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Jayalalithaa, guilty of amassing assets disproportionate to known sources of income in the 18-year-old case, and sentenced her among others, to four years imprisonment besides levying heavy fine.

John Michael D’Cunha, was born in Gurpur near Mangaluru. He had studied at SDM Law College in Mangaluru and began practicing law at Mangaluru in 1985 with some fellow advocates. In 1999 he stopped law practice and joined judicial services.
