Mangaluru, July 27: By going behind the modern lifestyle and luxuries, attempts are going on to take the traditional practices in a wrong direction, expressed Dr Ganesh Amin, Lecturer at St Aloysius College.
He spoke at the “Atidonji Dina” program about the Ati celebrations and its importance. The program was organized at the Karnataka State Devadigas Sangha auditorium in Mannagudda by the Karnataka State Devadigas Sangha Women’s Association and Youth Association on Sunday evening, July 26th.
As the youth are adhering to the modern lifestyle, the cultures and traditions followed from the ages are now fading out. But some organizations are organizing such programs and memorizing our old tradition which is a matter of pride, said Dr Ganesh Amin
S.U. S college professor Sunder Moily, Manipal Lions Club president B G Mohan Das, Dombivali unit president Ramachandra Devadiga and others were present.
Vaman Maroli, president of Karantaka State Devadiga Sangha, presided over the program.
Vice president Ratnakar Devadiga, general secretary N M Devdas, President of Women’s association Geetha V Kalyanpur, President of Youth Association M H Prashanth, and others were present on the dais.
Under the organization of president of Karnataka State Devadigas Sangha Mahila Association, Veni Maroli, a competition of the dishes prepared during the Ati month was also organized. The jury were Asha Shetty president of Kankanady Lions Club and Shobha H, development officer at Mulki- Kilmadi Panchayat.
Cultural programs were presented after the stage programs.
At the end of the program, people relished and appreciated the hundreds of special home-made variety dishes brought prepared by members of the association which are prepared in the month of Ati.
Shrinivas Devadiga compeered the program and proposed the vote of thanks.
