Commissioners will be appointed soon to all the city corporations of the state: Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake

Mangaluru, July 27: Commissioners will be appointed soon to all the City Corporations of the state. This project is taken up in order to make the administration simple. IAS cadre commissioners will be appointed for the control of various authorities which comes under the Department of City Development, said state minister for urban development Vinay Kumar Sorake.

Addressing the press meet in at circuit house in the city, on Monday, July 27th Minister Sorake said, the commissionerate selection will be done under the recommendations of the committee headed by senior IAS officer Jyotirlinga. This selection will take place within the next two months and by this, the development programs of the corporations will be done swiftly, he said.

“Basava Vasati Yojane”:

For the dream house of the poor and middle class people, the Basava Vasati Yojane will also be implemented soon. Under this project, the Union government will provide Rs 2 lakhs, State government will provide Rs 1.25 lakhs along with this Rs 2 lakhs bank loans will be provided and altogether in a cost of Rs 6 lakhs, this is a project of living in apartments. Along with this, the governer of the state has consented for the 94 CC of the Karnataka Land Revenue Act 1964 of providing title deeds for those who have constructed houses in government lands, informed Minister Sorake.

He said, union government has launched new projects like Smart City, urban development and housing scheme. Mangaluru City Corporation has been included under Atal Mission for rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) Scheme, in which each; union government and the state gover6nment will provide Rs 100 crore.

He said, the towns which have population of more than one lakh will be included in Amrut Scheme. and in Karnataka 25 towns have been included under this scheme.

Speaking about the Smart City project, the Sorake said, Karnataka has been allotted six Smart Cities. So as per guidelines, they will be selected out of the 11 corporations. The union government will provide Rs 500 crore in five years and the state government also will provide the same amount in the same time.

About the appointment of new commissioner to Mangaluru City Corporation, he said the appointment process of has already begun. Within a week, a KAS officer will be appointed as the MCC commissioner.

District incharge minister B Ramanath Rai, MLA J R Lobo, MLA Mohiuddin Bava, MLC Ivan D’Souza, Mayor Jacintha Vijay Alfred, Deputy Mayor Shashidar Hegde were present along with others on this occasion.
