Five youths arrested by CCB police while plotting theft, weapons seized.

Mangaluru, July 31: The city crime branch (CCB) police on Thursday July 30th arrested five persons from near St Joseph Nagar road here while plotting for theft.

The arrested are namely Santosh Kumar (19), a resident of Jeppu, Gautam (19), a resident of Kankanady, Dheeraj (24) and Dhanraj (19) from Padil and Nitin Kumar (24) from Pandeshwar.

The police have confiscated a Scorpio car, two machetes, an iron rod, and three cell phones from the possession of accused.

Based on reliable information that a group people was suspiciously moving in the area in a Scorpio car near the entrance leading to St Joseph Nagar road, the CCB police went to the spot and arrested five youths.

Police said, the group of five were plotting to commit thefts at the houses of some rich people in the vicinity of Valencia.

Among the five accused, Santosh Kumar was charged of kidnapping and robbing a person along with his accomplices in 2014. He was arrested in that case and had spent four months in judicial custody.

The five accused and the seized items have been handed over to Mangaluru rural police for further investigation.

On the direction of City Police Commissioner S Murugan, under the guidance of DCP K M Shantaraju and led by CCB inspector Valentine D’Souza, this operation was conducted.
