Man borrows loan on artificial jewelery, gets arrested in Bengaluru

Udupi, August 1: A man has been arrested in Bengaluru who had allegedly deposited jewellery claiming it to be gold to borrow loan from a finance firm in Udupi.

The accused is identified as Abdul Majeed (32), a resident of Pandubettu.

Abdul Majeed had borrowed a loan of Rs 93,000 from Manappuram Gold Loan Finance after depositing 48.6 grams of jewellery which he claimed to be made of gold, but later it was learnt that the jewellery were artificial ones.

Later on July 26th, a case was registered in Malpe and Udupi police stations.

Under the guidance of Udupi circle inspector Srikanth and sub-inspector Ravikumar, the Udupi and Malpe police began investigations and succeeded in arresting the accused near Anand Rao circle in Bengaluru on July 28th.

The accused has been produced in court and detained to judicial custody.
