Udupi, August 1: A youth is said to have committed suicide by consuming poison in a lodge near the service bus stand here.
The deceased is Satyajith (27), resident of Chitpadi in Udupi.
Satyajith was working at a barbers shop in Udupi.
On the night of July 31st, Satyajith came to the Tourist lodge along with his friend, booked a room and began to consume alcohol there. It is said, his friend had gone from the room late in the night. Later Satyajith had ordered for alcohol again and had mixed poison in it and had consumed it, it is said.
As there was no response from inside when the lodge people knocked the door in the morning, the local police were informed.
After the police arrived to the spot and the door was forced open, it came to light that Satyajith had committed suicide.
The exact reason for committing suicide remains unknown.
A case has been registered at Udupi city police station and investigations are on.
