Group assault case: Girl files sexual harassment case against the man.

Mangaluru, August 25: The very next day after a group had thrashed a man at Attavar here, the case has taken a twist. The girl involved in the case alleged that the man had harassed her.

A group which, caught Shakir, tied him to a pole, stripped and trashed him for allegedly being in the company of the girl from different community.

On Tuesday August 25^th, the girl addressed a press meet here and alleged that Shabbir had been tormenting her. On Monday, he had held her hand and tried to forcibly pull her into his car, she said.

The girl claimed that “I am an employee in the operations department of a supermarket at Attavar from the last three months where Shakir is also working. We used to interact as we worked in the same supermarket. We used to converse pertaining to our work. He asked my mobile number and began to send messages to me and I used to reply as he was my senior. I come from a poor family and got this job with great difficulty, and I was afraid that if I fail to reply to his messages, he would trouble me at work.

The girl  also added she had not raised her voice against the man being frightened as the accused had threatened of releasing her private photos in social sites.

One day when I was returning home from workplace he offered to drop me at Nandigudda bus stop. I got into his car a little away from the workplace. But on the way he misbehaved with me and I opposed his advances. But, he did not listen to my pleas and tried to touch me. I then told him to drop me at Bikarnakatte. After this, whenever he saw me, he would say ‘Come, I will give you money’, she said.

Even on August 24^th, at 5 pm when I was in the office, he sent me a message offering to drop me in his car. As I was under pressure at work, I accepted his offer. When I came out from the workplace, I saw him outside waiting in his car. He caught my hand and forcibly pulled me to get inside the car. I shouted for help and people closeby came to rescue me from him. I also called my brother and explained about what had happened, said the girl.

She claimed that the youths who were arrested are all innocents. The youths on the lines of humanity have rescued me. It is unfair to view them on the grounds of the activists of a Hindu association. They witnessed a girl in misery and had come to help a girl. She urged that the youths be released immediately.

The girl said she has field a complaint with the police in this regard and urged to take suitable actions against the man.
