In 2013, on September 21st; Akshata (18), a 2nd year BCom student from a college at Car Street in the city had gone missing. Three days later on September 24th her body was found on the banks of a river at Bolar. Since then, her friend and college- mate Madan, who was said to be the prime suspect has gone missing. However, as no evidence of murder was found, the police closed the case a few days later.

The protestors while speaking to Pandeshwar circle inspector Dinakar Shetty, have alleged that the mysterious death was not suicide but a murder and urged Pandeshwar police to trace Madan.

Speaking to media representatives, BJP leader Pradeep Shetty, said, within a month the police should trace this case and also trace Madan who went missing after her death. In case the police fail to take suitable steps in solving the case, all residents of Adyar along with various organizations will call for a national highway bandh near Adyar, he said.

Rajeevi, the mother of the victim, who was present during the protest also claimed that her daughter did not commit suicide as she did not have any suicidal tendencies.

A memorandum was also submitted by the protesters to the police urging CID probe into the case.

Brijesh Chowta, BJP Yuva Morcha leader, Varun Chowta, Prasanna Kumar, Suchan and others were present on this occasion.

Speaking to the media inspector Dinakar Shetty said that the case was registered as unnatural death as the forensic examination could not prove murder and was closed on September 29th – 2013. Even the medical examination did not show any evidence.

About Madan who has gone missing, inspector Dinakar Shetty said, if he is traced, more details could be collected about the case. We are putting our sincere efforts to trace him and we even contacted the Kerala police in this regard. We have already enquired with the parents, neighbours, his relatives and friends, but he is yet to be traced. If the protestors want a reinvestigation into the case, they could file a case under sections 302 or 306 of the IPC, said inspector Dinakar Shetty.
