Beltangady, October 7: Good response was witnessed to the bundh call against Yettinahole project given by Netravati Ulisi Horata Samiti and other like-minded organizations in Beltangady taluk. The shops completely downed their shutters and the business men voluntarily participated in the protest.
As the protesters sat in the centre of the road during protest, the traffic movement was effected.
All shops and business establishments downed their shutters in support of the bandh. The auto rickshaws and buses also supported the strike. All the main highways connecting Beltangady taluk was closed.
As the public transport was absent, tourists suffered great inconveniences, most people remained indoors, and many of the schools and colleges also declared a holiday. Tyres were burnt in some places.
Tight police security has been deployed in the taluk.
