Bantwal, April 18: The Dakshina Kannada district unit of Aam Aadmi Party staged protest against collecting high toll fee collection from the vehicle owners at toll gate at Brahmarakootlu on Mangalore- Bangalore national highway on April 18,Friday.
Addressing the protestors, AAP candidate for DK Lok Sabha constituency M R Vasudev said that although deputy commissioner has issued an order not to hike the toll fee few days ago, the authorities are collecting high fee from the passing vehicles.
He said that after AAP members staged the protest to lower the toll fee on April 1, the DC had passed an order to continue the original fee, but contractors of the four-laning project of the national highway have increased the fee, which is condemned.
He also urged the national highway authorities and the deputy commissioner to lower the toll fee and bring to its original fee and also erect a board informing the toll payers about the correct toll fee to be paid.
