Bantwala, Jul 16: Movement of heavy vehicles in Madantyaru-Kakkepadavu road has caused landslide and damage to drainage canal. The road here is filled with ponds and commuters are facing danger.
Because of heavy rain, roadside hillocks have suffered landslides at several places on this road, affecting movement of traffic. In some cases, vehicular movement had to be suspended for long hours for this reason.
Huge mounds of mud crashed to the road when lorry fell of the road. A portion of the road too faces the risk of buckling and suffering heavy damage. The drivers and the owners of the vehicles have complained that huge vehicles carrying stones from the nearby quarry is the reason for this incident.
Beltangadi Tahashildar arrived at the spot and inspected the scene. As of now the police have provided a temporary solution.
Madantyaru Village panchayat member Dinesh has appealed to the respective officials to take immediate action on the heavy vehicular movement. He has also stated about a protest if the action is not taken.
