KSPCB -Takes action to check pollution by MRPL

Mangalore, August 21 : Following the complaints on pollution around Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd. (MRPL), the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board will send a team of scientists to find out the levels of pollution there, said an official release.

The decision was taken after B. Ramanath Rai, Minister for Forests, Ecology and Environment met residents of Jokatte at the Deputy Commissioner’s office.

Mr. Rai said that, a meeting should be held involving representatives of MRPL, Mangalore Special Economic Zone and ONGC-MRPL.

The release said that, Mr K. Abhayachandra Jain, Minister of State for Youth Services and Sports, who is also the local MLA was present.
