Golden howdah insured for Rs. 15.05 crore

The Mysore district administration has paid a premium of Rs. 93,888

The 750-kg golden howdah, which will be the cynosure of all eyes during the Jamboo Savari on Vijayadashami, has been insured for Rs. 15.05 crore by the Mysore district administration.

Deputy Commissioner of Mysore C. Shikha told The Hindu that the district administration had paid a premium of Rs. 93,888 towards insuring the golden howdah with New India Assurance Company for four days beginning October 2 till the midnight of October 5.

The public liability insurance of the howdah, which is carried by the caparisoned elephant Arjuna during the Jamboo Savari on October 4, is a precautionary measure against any untoward happening before and after the procession.

The risk coverage includes theft, loss, burglary, accidental damage, transit cover, damage during procession, earthquake, fire, and allied perils.
