Mangaluru, March 02: State minister for labour P T Parameshwar, informed that labour department has placed a demand to the state government of Rs 1,100 crore in the 2015-16 budget for skill development programme. This programme intends to provide employment opportunities to graduates, post graduates, and for those who have discontinued their education, he said.
Addressing a press meet at Congress office prior to party workers’ meet here on Monday March 2nd he said, in order to include BPL families under ‘Rashtriya Swasth Bhima Yojana’, the labour department has submitted a proposal to the state government. In the cabinet meeting, the Chief Minister has approved the inclusion of 43 lakh BPL families under the project and sanctioned a grant.
He said, Rs 5 crore has been sanctioned to set up labour office at ITI here. Four ITI’s are sanctioned by the government for Dakshina Kannada district, he informed. To avail the benefit of smart card the department has also registered 5 lakh labourers, he said.
