Mangalore, Aug 24: ‘Shakthi’, a National Bunt women’s Convention was organized under the aegis of Shri Siddivinayaka Prathistana and Ganeshotsava Samithi at Bunts Hostel premises on August 24, Sunday.
Sri Sadhvi Mathanandamayi of Odiyoor Mutt inaugurated the event and delivered the benedictory speech. Speaking on the occasion, she said that women power symbolizes godly power and moral power. If women desires, they can achieve anything in life.
The Bunt community has qualities, like leadership, self reputation, protection and fighting spirit for the religion. This convention will help for the welfare of women power, she added.
Puttur MLA Shakuntala Shetty, presided over the event and said that, at present day the joint families and importance to women is disappearing. Hence, this convention will help in encouraging the women to fight against the violence, transformation of women’s role in the society and encourages to fight for their power.
Vidhan Parishat member and film actor Tara Anuradha, Bangalore Bunt Sangha vice president Meera Krishnappa, Mumbai Bunt Sangha vice president Latha J Shetty, participated as the chief guests.
Convention president Dr Ashajyothi Rai, welcomed the guests and gathering. Speaking on the occasion, she said that the convention has been organized with a desire to raise women’s voice to the top most.
She also thanked, Sri Siddivinayaka Prathistana managing trustee Malady Ajith Kumar Rai and other office bearers for extending their support in organizing the econvention.
Asha Prakash Shetty, Roopa Mahesh Shetty, Vandana K Shetty and others were present.
State and National level women participated as the resource person and presented seminar on atrocities against women, strengthening women community, condemning rape incidents and training self-defence mechanism for women, legal awareness, precautionary measures while using social networking media.
Senior litterateur Dr Sunitha M Shetty from Mumbai will preside over the valedictory ceremony. MP Shobha Karandlaje will deliver the valedictory speech at 4 pm.
Renowned author, Dr H Ngaveni will participate as the chief guest.
Dignitaries like Khargi Shetty, Dr Meera Shetty, Rekha Shetty, Dr Saritha Hegde, Yashaswini Shetty, Bimbodhari Hegde and others will be felicitated on the occasion. Cultural programme will be held from 6pm.
