Mangalore, September 25: Similar to every year, this year too; Mangalore is ready to celebrate the Dasara Festival organised by Sri Gokarnanatha Temple. Sri Sri Gokarnanatha Temple; which is the main centre of attraction of the Mangalore Dasara festival is decorated using attractive lightings. It is a kind of festivity to watch the colourful fountains springing around the fountain situated inside the glimmering premises of the Shrine. Now the Kudroli Shrine is completely glittering with various decorations.
Even this year also, similar to the previous years, every street in Mangalore is decorated with lights. On both sides of the roads, buildings, malls also adorn the decoration.
Alike to last year, even this year also, the roads are lined with lakhs of electric lights. The city adorns through-out the night. People are making dasara colourful by burning lamps at the top of their building at their own cost. By the continuous efforts of the whole city is ready to celebrate dasara. In order to view this beautiful scene, people flock at Sri Kudroli Shrine by evening. In Dasara festivity of each year, to the lights will be formulated attractively.
The Navaratri festival observed at kudroli Shree Gokarnanatheshwara Temple is now called as the grand Mangalore Dasara. Apart from the world famous Dasara at Mysore, Mangalore Dasara comes into our minds. Today the Mangalore Dasara is also getting the fame over the globe. The credit of upraising this Dasara to the world-famous level goes to the former finance minister Janardhan Poojari.
The Mangalore Dasara and Navaratri festival takes place which is lead by the former union minister, Mr Janardhan Poojary a pioneer in the development of the shrine. Preaching the message of equality of Narayana Guru which says; there is only one clan, one race and one God; and there by gathering all the citizens of Mangalore by which the Mangalore Dasara celebrated right now has gained fame behind which it is definite that it is the day and night efforts of Mr Janardhan Poojary.
To see the Mangalore dasara which is celebrated over the past twenty-three years, devotees from the country and abroad visit this place. In the auditorium which is adjacent to the Shrine, Sri Sarada Mathe ,Ganapathi comprising the Navadurge being enshrined here and rare decorations are done. Special arrangements have been made here to view this. In thedecorated Mantap; the decorated idols of Bramhacharini, chandraghanta, Kushmandini, Siddidatri, Mahagauri, Mahakali, Katyayni, Skanda Mata, Aadishakthi and Shailaputri all placed in a unique way and offered prayers daily.
For ten long-days, at the same place the idols of Navadurge and Sharda are enshrined at the same time along with chastity rite of traditional worship which can be seen only here in the entire world. To take part in such an awesome Mangalore Dasara, people throng to this Shrine. The festival begins from August 25th and culminates with the Dasara Parade on October 3rd.
