Two female child labours in city rescued by officials.

Mangaluru, October 8: The officials of District Child Protection Unit, Labour Department, and Child Line in their joint operation on Wednesday, October 7th have rescued two young girls who were working as child labours at a home near Mallikatte junction here.

It is gathered that on receiving reliable information, the officials in their joint operation went to the house and rescued the girls.

It is said, these two girls were sisters hailing from Bilugola, Chikkamagaluru. The younger girl was studying in sixth standard in a local school. The age of the elder girl is not known. The officials asked the government Wenlock Hospital and find out her age. A case would be filed against the owner of the house only after finding the age of the girls, said the officials.

The officials rescued the girls from the house and produced them before the Child Welfare Committee.

The girls are now handed over to the child protection centre in Bondel.

In the operation led by Labour Commissioner D G Nagesh, the labour department officials G G Mailarappa, Shripathi Raju, Mary P Dios, Ganapathy Hegde, project director Shrinivas, childline officials, DCPU officials and Kadri police had participated.
