Mangalore, Sep 26: Infosys campus located at Kottara received a call claiming that a bomb was planted inside the campus, here on Thursday September 26.
As per the latest information a wrong number had resulted in the confusion. Instead of connecting the caller to Bombay (Mumbai) the call wrongly went to Infosys. The miscommunication between a compny employee and an housemaid was to blame for the terror.
Earlier, reports of a possible terror attack spread through the media and social networks. As soon the call was received, the building was evacuated and police officials were informed. Police, assisted by bomb disposal squad and sniffer dog squad, are searching the office premises. Finally it come to know that it is a fake call.
Police said that the call was made by a maid servant employed at the house of Kotiprasad Alva in Jail Road, Kodialbail.
Police sources said that as Alva was not home, the maid herself dialled a wrong number, asked whether the place is to Mumbai and speaking in Tulu asked the person on the other end, “Bombay.Bombay?” A Malayali employee at Infosys who answered the call heard the words as ‘Bomb hai’ and he raised the alarm.
Finally it confirmed that there was no threat. Now the employees of Infosys began re-entering the campus.
