Bantwal,August 08th : River Nethravathi, has swollen up due to continuous rains. Since the river is overflowing, the river water has entered the arecanut plantations at lower areas and some buildings. The lands of this area which are situated at lower altitude are filled with water. But no losses have been reported until now.
The land has been slided close to a hostel building at Vidyagiri, Bantwal and the soil of the area has become looser due to the rain. Sandbags have been piled up in order to protect the building.
LLMP school ground at Pane Mangalore is completely submerged under water. Some more land slide has been reported around KalluGudde of B. Kasya Village. The residents of this area were vacated from their houses a few days ago.
