K L Rahul from Mangaluru scores 300 in Ranji Trophy, emerges as Karnataka’s first triple centurion.

Bengaluru, January 31: K L Rahul from Mangaluru has scored 300 in Ranji Trophy match in Bengaluru, representing Karnataka against Uttar pradesh.

With this feat, he has also raised to the honour to be the first from Karnataka to score a triple century during the first class cricket match against Uttar Pradesh held at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

By stumps on the second day, the hosts declared their first innings at a formidable 719 for five in their Group A Ranji match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

The Rahul(22), a Mangalurean, exhibited his awesome performance to make 337, outstanding innings. It is also the 8th highest individual score by an Indian in Ranji Trophy and overall in first class cricket.

Rahul, whose overnight score was 150, reached 300 during the second session of the play in the stadium on Friday.

Rahul, who made a century against Australia in only his second Test in Sydney, scored 89 in the previous Ranji match against Baroda.

Rahul’s previous best performance was, Barrington Rolland’s 283, which was played against Madhya Pradesh few years ago.
