Mangalore, Sep .14: Explosive materials were seized from a passenger at Mangalore International Airport here late night on Saturday September 13. The officials of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) seized materials used in the manufacturing of explosives.
Though officials did not divulge the identity of the accused, reliable sources said that he has been identified as Mohammed Abdul Khader from Periye Uppala in Kasargod district. He had booked the late night Jet Airways ticket to Dubai.
As per sources, the accused is suspected to have links with a terrorist group of Syria. During security check, the CISF personnel found the explosive materials in his luggage.
The Bomb Detection Squad along with a Canine Squad rushed to the airport after the explosives were traced.
R Hitendra, Police Commissioner, Dr. K V Jagadish, Deputy Commissioner of Police. Ravikumar, Panambur ACP and other police officials visited the spot.
“The passenger has been detained for further investigation,” said DCP Dr. K V Jagadish.
