Sowmya Kamath of Mangalore selected for Ph.D in Space Science at Stanford University

Manngalore.sept.20: Ms. Sowmya Kamath of Mangalore has secured admission to Stanford University, USA, to pursue Ph.D studies in space science. She left for USA from Bangalore and joined the university last week.

Stanford University, situated in California, is one of the most prestigious institutions in the world. This opportunity to pursue doctoral studies in this venerable institution will provide a great boost to her brilliant academic career, which includes being awarded with the coveted Gold Medal for being the Topper in Physical Science at Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Thiruvananthapuram (Asia’s first Space University which functions as an autonomous body under the Department of Space, Government of India.) and the experience of working as a Junior Scientist at Physical Research Laboratory (PRL), Ahmedabad, the national Research Institute for space and allied sciences founded by Dr. Vikram Sarabhai and a subsidiary of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).

An alumnus of St Agnes Institutions and Canara PU College, Ms. Sowmya Kamath is the daughter Mrs. Shantha and Mr. Surathkal Srinivas Kamath of Pound Garden, Kadri, Mangalore.
