Jayalalithaa bail plea: Bangalore under tight security cordon

Police Commissioner M.N. Reddi and Additional Commissioner of Police Harishekharan are supervising the security arrangements and monitoring the law and order situation.

Security was tight in and around the Karnataka High Court on Wednesday morning as hundreds of supporters of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa gathered in the area in view of the hearing on her bail application.

A vacation bench of the court adjourned to Tuesday, the bail plea and appeal against the Special Court order convicting Ms. Jayalalithaa in the disproportionate wealth case.

Meanwhile, Police Commissioner M.N. Reddi and Additional Commissioner of Police Harishekharan are supervising the security arrangements and monitoring the law and order situation.

Hundreds of people, inlcuding MLAs from Tamil Nadu and AIADMK leaders, have gathered at the Central Prison in Parappana Agrahara, where Jayalalithaa is lodged since September 27. A few Tamil Nadu Ministers, who are camping in the city, tried to meet Ms. Jayalalithaa, but were denied permission, it is learnt.

AIADMK party workers staged a protest at Attibele and near Parappana Agrahara wearing black bands against the arrest of their leader. The protestors demanded her early release from the prison.
