Kundapur, October 4: The “Hulivesha” – Tiger dance has a history of over hundreds of years is declining in recent days at Kundapur. It is observed in the past few years that this art is declining since there are no promoters. Numerous organisations have joined hands for the purpose of the promotion and foster of Tiger dance, there by retaining this folk art.
The tiger dance team at Kundapur, comprising the musical instruments such as nadaswara, tasmar, and drum played with a unique style ballad composed, along with the Joker and dolls are dancing in all the streets in Kundapur and attracting the people there.
“Huli Kunitha”: The Sai Center commercial complex which is in the heart of the city in Kundapur, a huge mass was found before it. Kundapur Kalakshetra institute Chairman B. Suresh Kumar, Vice-president Praveen Kumar T, Rajesh Kaveri, Radhakrishna inaugurated the program by tying a cloth to the dolls. Meanwhile the 3 tigers arrived with a music nadaswara and drums who entertained the huge crowd of spectators. The audience clapped at them when they collected the money by mouth without using their and also opened the lid of the cool drinks bottle without using their hands. Prior to this dance the tigers had performed “Muhurtha dance” and offered prayers at Sharadotsava venue in Kundapur.
Kundapur Raktheswari Temple: On Friday night, on the special occasion of Navratri; there was a procession in Rakteshwari temple, at police lane here. The Tiger dance team who arrived at this venue, danced continuously for two hours and attracted the crowd gathered there.
