Mangalore, October 09: Mangalore City Police Commissioner R Hithendra has informed that, Sate government has sanctioned a cyber crime police station to all the range’s in Karnataka, to control the crimes. He said, the police station will be situated at the old office of Mangalore East Traffic ACP at Kadri.
The cyber crime police will cover Mangalore City Police Commissionerate limits as well. The City Police Commissionerate will provide infrastructure facilities to the station.
It is learnt that, knowledgable staff will be deployed for the cyber crime police station. The entire functioning of the Cyber crime police station will be handled by the CID under the guidance of DGP CID.
Mr Hithendra said that all the cases registered under IT Act will be investigated by the local police with the help of cyber crime police. The station will assist in tracing cyber crimes.
Plaints regarding online fraud will also be handled by the police. Based on the range of frauds, the police will probe the cases. The police will be trained on techniques to handle cyber crimes such as skimming scams and data forging. All the financial implications of white collared crimes will be handled by the cyber crime police.
Police out-post in Moodbidri: The commissioner said, a proposal to set up a police outpost at Moodbidri had been submitted the City Police Commissionerate which is impending before the government.
The City Police Commissionerate had issued detailed guidelines for the safety of Basadis in Moodbidri after the theft of precious idols from Siddantha Mandira of Guru Basadi in Jain Mutt at Moodbidri last year. The police had instructed the authorities to deploy private security personnel. However, citing the reason of no income from basadis, the authorities are seeking the government’s help to safeguard the basadis.
Responding to a query regarding the theft at Shanthinatha Basadi on Tuesday, Mr Hithendra said that the cops suspect the local labourers involvement in the theft as none of the idols have been stolen and have fled away with cash from hundi. The police said thieves broke open a door that was not properly locked and entered the basadi.
The Cops are investigating the case and the burglars will be tracked soon.
