Mysore: Following the shocking attack on IAS officer Rashmi V. on Wednesday and the allegations she made of police inaction on Thursday, the city police intensified security at the Administrative Training Institute (ATI) campus where Ms. Rashmi is the Director-General.
Police, who arrested four more people in the assault case on Friday, have stepped up security on the campus after it was learnt that there was a possibility of protesters gathering at the institute. Especially, as the last rites of Mr. Venkatesh, the mess manager, who allegedly committed suicide, were performed at his native Mastihalli in Tumkur district’s Kunigal taluk on Thursday.
It was alleged that Mr. Venkatesh allegedly took the extreme step due to harassment by higher officials, but Ms. Rashmi had categorically denied the allegations and claimed that the attack on her was a result of her crack down on corruption in the institute.
City Police Commissioner M.A. Saleem, who had denied allegations of “lax action” by Ms. Rashmi, said: “Police are also looking out for a woman who had attacked Ms. Rashmi on the premises of ATI”.
Meanwhile, Revenue Minister V. Srinivas Prasad, who is also Minister in-charge of the district met Ms. Rashmi at the Government Guest House.
