Mangalore, October 18: The 5th mass nuptial ceremony was organised at Milagres Church Hall in Hampankatta by the NRI association-Bearys Welfare Forum Abu Dhabi (BWF), from coastal Karnataka on Saturday, October 18th.
In the past, the forum had arranged weddings for 65 couples, from economically-backward group of the Muslim community.
The guests were welcomed by Mohammed Rafeek Krishnapura, Vice-president of Bearys Welfare Forum and were introduced to the mass.
During his inaugural address P M Ibrahim Musliyar Bekal, Qazi of Udupi district said, “Islam does not believe in Dowry, but today it is a practiced in the community. Those who marry must take a bold step not to accept dowry and curd this practice. I wish the lord’s blessings on the programme and on all couples who will be married today.”
Joint-secretary of Bearys Welfare Forum Abu Dhabi Siddique Uchil, revealed that, “Each couple was given gold, silver and attires for the wedlock. We have a budget of around Rs 1.80 lakh per couple. The total expenditure is estimated to be around Rs 1.50 crore. The forum has also raised funds to construct 100 toilets for economically-backward families over the past two years.”
Qazi of Mangalore- Twaka Ahmed Musliyar, performed Nikah for 17 couples from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Chikmagalur and Kasargod districts. The programme was compeered by B A Mohammed Ali. Imran Ahmed Kudroli thanked.
During this ceremony, president of Bearys Welfare Forum Abu Dhabi, Mohammed Ali Uchil, joint-secretary of Bearys Welfare Forum Abu Dhabi, Imran Ahmed Kudroli, U T Khader- minister for Health and Family Welfare, the MLA’s Moideen Bava, and J R Lobo, B M Farooq, president of Bangalore Bearys Welfare Association, chairman of Dakshina Kannada district Waqf Advisory Committee S M Rashid, chairman of Beary Group of Institutions- Sayed Mohamed Beary, , president of Muslim jamayat at Puttur- Haji S Ibrahim Kammadi, chairman of Al -Wafa Charitable Trust Muhammad Badruddin and members of Bearys Welfare Forum were present.
