Mangaluru, November 04: Students suspended their classes and protested under the banner of Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) at the Ambedkar Circle in the city on November 3rd, Monday against the government’s inability to suppress the rising cases of sexual atrocities on women and children in the state.
Jayesh P.K City ABVP Secretary, spoke on the occasion and demanded the government to enforce stringent laws to prevent sexual abuse of women and children. He also warned of a severe protest by the ABVP if steps were not taken in the right direction.
ABVP activist and student of University College Chaitra, who addressed the protestors said out of the 400 sexual assault cases, 300 victims were minor in the cases reported from the state. She also urged for the formation of Women’s Safety Cell in all schools and colleges.
Several students participated in the protest demanding stringent action against the culprits.
