Doesn’t it make you crazy when someone is taking forever to reply to a text message? Are they ignoring you, or did they just not see it?

Fortunately, you won’t have to wonder anymore when messaging through WhatsApp. The chat app is rolling out a small change that should give you some peace of mind — read receipts that tell you when the recipient has read your message.

The two little gray check marks that appear next to your message will now turn blue when your text has been read, 9to5Mac first reported. No need to worry about updating the app to get the new feature — WhatsApp is pushing it out automatically to iOS and Android users.

If you thought the double check marks already meant the person saw your message, you’re not alone.

As WhatsApp explains in its newly updated FAQ, one gray check mark means your message was sent successfully and two gray check marks means it was successfully delivered to the recipient’s phone. Now, when those check marks turn blue you’ll know the person actually read your message.

In a group chat, the second check mark will show up when all participants in the group have received your message. They’ll turn blue when everyone has read it.

Meanwhile, 9to5Mac also pointed out some leaked images that appear to back up rumors that WhatsApp could soon be getting a voice-calling feature. The folks at Dutch site Droidapp.nl recently posted an image purporting to show some of the icons WhatsApp will use for the new calling feature. There’s still no word as to when this feature might arrive.
