Eashwarappa should apologize immediately for his statement: Demands MLC Ivan D’ Souza.

Mangaluru, November 8: In a press meet held at the Mangaluru City Corporation office on Saturday, November 8th MLC Ivan D’ Souza expressed his anger over, the controversial statement of Eashwarappa who has queried in haste that if the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Home Minister K.J. George siblings were happened to be raped, would they keep quiet?.

MLC Ivan D’souza has questioned in a fury over the above statement that “What if the BJP leader, the leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council KS Eashwarappa’s wife happens to be raped?”.

MLC Ivan demanded that, Eashwarappa has to apologize immediately over his remarks and resign from his post. Otherwise, he will not be permitted to arrive at the district, warned Ivan. Ivan immediately clarified the above statement and said, his intention was not to hurt anyone but to make them realize how one would feel if such undesirable incidents happen on their kith and kin.

He also said, the suggestions for the administrators are always welcome. Eashwarappa should apologize immediately or else we will register a case against him, Ivan said. A committee has been framed under the leadership of  MC Nanaiah to prevent atrocities on women. The government is moving forward to punish the rapists by dismissing the police who fail to file cases on the rapists and impose Goonda Act on the rapists, revealed Ivon.

I am functioning as MLC since three months.  So far I have sanctioned Rs 50 lakhs grants and compensation of Rs 16 lakhs are granted towards sick people.

He said, a proposal has been submitted to the government to release 2 crores to form a Konkani Peetha at the Mangaluru University. Similarly a proposal has been placed to grant Rs 22 crores for the construction of examination hall at the university campus. A proposal to construct a special hostel for students who arrive to study at Mangaluru University from abroad have been placed and now  34 students from foreign countries are studying here, added Ivan.

I have already released funds to construct rooms, seating arrangements and lighting facility at Nandigudde cemetery and the work will begin soon, he said.

Former Mayor, corporator Sashidhar Hegde, corporator Praveen Chandra Alwa, MCC standing committee president Ashok D K and others were present.
