Two women held at MIA while smuggling gold in innerwear.

Mangaluru, November 20: The Customs officers at Mangaluru International Airport have seized smuggled gold in two separate cases valued at Rs 48,32,023.

In the first case, the officers seized gold in the form of Seven numbers of Ten Tola Gold Bars, weighing 816.550 grams and worth Rs 21,72,023 concealed in innerwear of a lady passenger, named Smt. Khairun Gulam Mahamad Shekh (48), wife of Shri. Ali Mohammed, residing at Masjid Chowk Main Road, AT Sutrapada, Junagadh-362275. The lady passenger had arrived at Mangaluru International Airport on November 19th, Wednesday at about 07.45 hrs by Air India Express flight No.IX814 from Dubai.

On the same day, in a similar case, the officers seized gold in the form of a one Kilo Gold Bar, weighing 1000 grams and worth Rs.26,60,000 concealed in inner-wear of another lady passenger, named Smt.Mariyomma Ottapokkil(48), Methal Chalil, Manipuram PO, Kozhikode, Kerala-673572, who arrived at Mangaluru International Airport on November 19th, Wednesday at about 08.45 hrs by Jet Airways flight No.9W531 from Dubai.

Both the said lady passengers were later arrested and produced before the Judicial Magistrate.

Further investigation in both the cases is under progress.
