Mangaluru, December 6: Uma M G Principal District and Sessions Judge has revealed on Saturday December 6th, that a total of 49,946 cases were settled at Lok Adalaths held at various courts across the district from September 1st to December 5th.
Judge Uma M G speaking to the media said that 377 motor vehicle accident cases were settled and a total compensation of Rs 4,42,84,154 was paid out. 10,301 criminal cases and 418 civil cases were settled. After setting 37,854 traffic cases Rs 26,60,100 fine was collected. A total of 996 pre litigation cases involving Bank of Maharastra, BSNL, Canara Bank, Corporation Bank, Central Bank, Bank of India, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Allahabad Bank, Union Bank, and Idea Cell companies were settled and total amount of Rs 3,13,85,146 was collected.
Judge Uma said, a target is set to settle 5,000 cases on December 5th .
Judge Uma on viewing that Lok Adalaths were fruitful in dealing with pending cases, informed that the authorities had decided to convene Lok Adalaths on every Friday and Saturday.
