Mangaluru, December 8: A bundh call was given by the Bajrang Dal and VHP on Monday December 8th to protest against the attack on Datta Peetha pilgrims which took place at night on December 5th. In response to it, Ulaibettu, Gurpur and other areas close by have completely shut down.
The cops have imposed Section 144 from 6 am to 6 pm, and tight security has been deployed in the sensitive areas. Even then, miscreants have pelted stones and damaged at least three vehicles.
A government truck was pelted stones and the driver suffered minor injuries.
Shop keepers have shut down their shops and people were meagrely seen moving out. Tyres were burnt in various places. Private transport carriages remained off the roads.
